Minutes of the 9th KP Wat&San Sectorial Early Recovery Working Group Meeting

The 9th KP WatSan Early Recovery Working Group Meeting was held in LG&RDD Office Peshawar. The meeting started at 1000 hours with the recitation of the Holy Quran followed by introduction of participants. The proceedings and action points of the meetings are as under:

- AWD alerts and Outbreaks
| Diarrheal cases are increasing and high alerts are reported in last week although the situation is in control throughout the province.
The non-flood districts and Tank & D.I. Khan are reporting high figures with the reason of fewer partners in the region.
For the response to alerts, the forum requested to WHO to further break down the hot spots up to village level minimum.
In response to Lower Dir outbreak, ACF and other partners, working in the locality, were requested to respond.
For the mid-term and long term solutions, TMA & PHED is required to come with proposals on the basis of assessments.

- Mass Chlorination
| 70% targets have been achieved and 431 out of 641 schemes have been chlorinated till date.
D.I. Khan & Tank NOC is still pending and the Chair was requested to tackle the issue with PDMA. LGRDD to take the matter with PDMA.
In response to AWD outbreaks, as per mandate HRDS distributed NFIs in the acute diarrheal region.
HRDS was requested to send the requirement of Chlorine. The requirement would be share with the cluster partners to overcome the scarcity of chlorines.
The forum requested that while UNICEF partners are already undertaking mass chlorination it would be advantageous if they can undertake a rapid assessment in the field also. UNICEF to report back if they would be able to undertake this exercise.
Chlorination is not only the solution; household treatment is also required where needed.

Helping Hand Proposal

Information Sharing / SRF
| WATSAN Cell (LGRDD) coordinator, Mr. Said Rehman, shared that in last coordination meeting, PDMA took active action and clusters were requested to share the list of partners who are not regular in information sharing.
The forum was informed that SRF has been launched and all of the organizations were requested to switch to SRF and to share information on regular basis.
Partners were asked to inform if they need refresher training, IMMAP may be requested.

A.O.B.
| OGB was requested for certain clarifications about their two years D.I. Khan project, whether it comes in Development or Early Recovery. Oxfam to clarify the issues highlighted by LGRDD.
The partners were requested to design the project only on the basis of prior assessments.

Next WATSAN ER SWG meeting will be tentatively held on Aug 24, 2011, in LG&RDD office. Confirmation Email will be sent to all members in the invitation of meetings.
