Minutes of the 5th KP Wat&San Sectorial Early Recovery Working Group Meeting

The 5th KP WatSan Early Recovery Working Group Meeting was held in LG&RDD Office Peshawar.

The meeting started at 1000 hours with the recitation of the Holy Quran followed by introduction of participants.

The proceedings and action points of the meetings are as under:

Action Points: 

  1. District Action Plan
  • District action plan was shared and the identified gaps were focused.
  • The committed partners were requested to insure the quality of Hand pumps and latrines and to follow the finalized standards of Water Quality and Sanitation working groups. OGB offered their voluntary services for capacity building.
  • To avoid duplication and to identify the demographic gaps, the partners were requested to attend district working meetings regularly.
  1. Diarrhea Outbreak – DEWS Report
  • WHO shared dews report and highlighted the diarrheal alert which was occurred in Haripur last week.
  • The forum was requested for their prompt response and to donate their available water treatment NFIs.
  • The meeting suggested that the DEWs report to be shared with Public Health & concern TMA offices. Mr. Said Rehman took the responsibility for further dissemination.
  1. UNICEF Updated
  • UNICEF shared that the mass chlorination project is not yet materialized due to some PCRWR internal departmental reasons.
  • Due to delay in mass chlorination project, Cluster coordinator suggested that UNICEF might provide chlorine to public health and TMA offices for chlorination of their DWSS.
  1. Water quality meeting's updates
  • Mr. Said Rehman shared action points of the water quality meeting, which was held on 2nd May 2011.
    • "Water Quality" would be a permanent agenda of provincial SWG meetings.
    • A separate committee to be formed which will monitor the water quality activities.
  • The interested organizations were requested to share their nomination for the said committee.
  1. IDPS return from Jalozai Camp 
  • OCHA updated the forum that 2800 IDP families have been returned from Jalozai Camp and the return phase will continue till 5th Jun.
  • The decommissioning of 13th and 14th Phases of the camp has been started.
  • The partners were requested to facilitate the returnees with WASH NFIs.
  1. A.O.B.
  • Mr. Hanif, focal point SRF, shared that SRF reporting has been started and partner were requested to switch over to it.

Next WATSAN ER SWG meetings will be tentatively held on May 18, 2011, in LG&RDD office.
